A member asked:

Pain in shins for 4years getting worse, the pain is always there, can't walk without the pain anymore, what could it be? and will i require surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neuropathy?: Pain in the front of the leg may be due to nerve damage or muscle weakness. Diabetes and metabolic disorders can cause muscle and nerve damage that will result in chronic pain. Back disorders usually cause pain down the back of the leg. You should start with a thorough medical evaluation, and then may need emg/nerve conduction studies. Vascular disorder needs to be ruled out.
