It depends: As with many things in life, it depends. Depends on quantity and depends on your timing. First let's talk quantity. Moderate drinking is 2 alcoholic drinks/day for men, and 1/day for women. So moderate drinking is fine as long as it's not before a practice, match or while cutting wt. Keep the alcohol for afterwards! as you know, too much alcohol adversely affects your reaction time and balance!

Yes: There is really nothing that alcohol makes better. It alters people's judgement to where they may think that they are doing things better, but they are generally not. Alcohol weakens muscles, damages nerves, impairs reflex reaction time and visual tracking, as well as hand/eye coordination. None of this would make a person a better athlete in any way, shape or form.
