Most certainly: Diabetes is a multi system disease and can be lethal in many ways. The sugar can get way out of control and a condition called keto-acidosis can be fatal. Diabetes affects blood vessels, kidneys, eyes, the brain and the heart and damage to any of these can lead to severe illness and sometimes death. Control is best in the hands of a good endocrinologist.
