A member asked:

Is it normal to have aching legs 6 weeks post parathyroid surgery, with normal blood work?

Not likely.: Aching legs may develop after parathyroid surgery if serum calcium levels are low. An alternative explanation could be a low serum magnesium although this is not generally seen after parathyroid surgery.

No... but: If you had aching legs before the operation improvement can take longer. If you did not have aching legs it isn't usual to have it for this long after surgery.

Leg pain: It is possible 6 weeks after surgery but uncommon. If you had severe osteoporosis, it could take a while to recover. The pain might not be explained by the calcium and PTH labs. It would be interesting to know what your DEXA scan and bone specific alkaline phosphatase were.
