A member asked:

Can toothpaste help bring a boil to a head along with warm compress? (found the idea on home remedy site)

Boil Therapy: The primary home remedy for most boils is heat application, usually with hot soaks or hot packs. Heat application increases the circulation to the area and allows the body to better fight off the infection by bringing antibodies and white blood cells to the site of infection. My wife uses toothpaste on pimples which is sometimes helpful. Boils that do not respond need to be drained & antibiotics.

No: However, warm salt waterrinses does help bring a boil to a head. The application of heat softens the walls of the abscess to it drains more quickly.
