Negates gravity : Aqua therapy allows for essentially earlier normal motion without the effects of gravity due to the body's natural buoyancy in water. The resistive forces of moving through water are beneficial to normal healing and help build strength.

See below: Aqua therapy provides patients a way to work on motion and some strength but to avoid weighbearing or the pounding associated with running or walking it provides a way to perform exercises using the buoyancy of the water to protect certain injured areas.
