A member asked:

My doctor has sewn my eye closed to heal an corneal occlusion; is this justified or just torture?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Justified: This creates an environment continuously moistened and protected to allow healing of the cornea when there is a non-healing opening or a neurological deficiency or a tear deficiency which prevents healing when the eye is opened naturally. This may seem like torture but there is a sound medical basis for it.
