Eval and treatment: The type and extent of the injury will detemine how. Usually if sprain, one will splint, use ice, ibuprofen, elevation and observation. If more sifnificant and if tissue loss or injury or open wound, this could be more difficult and you would need to see a health care provider and perhaps have an extensive eval and treatment to recover. Depends: This depends on the type of injury involved. Since your question is very general, i will say generally the riice mnemonic will help: rest, ice, ibuprofen, compression and elevation. These recs will help most general musculoskeletal injuries.
