Genetic alterations.: Dfsp (dermtofibrosarcoma protruberans) is a malignancy that presents as nodular subcutaneous (under the skin) masses. Tumors are associated with specific abnormalities on chromosomes 22 & sometimes 17 that can trigger abnormal gene activity of a growth factor (pdgfb) that is fused to a collagen (connective tissue) gene, causing tumors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgmhw8iyrzy.
