A member asked:

What tests are used to assess hepatic mass lesions?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ultasound,CT,MRI: Us, ct and MRI allow us to identify different characteristics to help make a specific diagnosis. Occassionally a mass will need to be sampled with a biopsy. This can be guided by ultrasound or ct depending on the situation. There are also times when ct-pet or pet imaging can be utilized. The decision regarding the appropriate work up will be made by your doctor in consultation with a radiologist.
