Inflammation vs. ca: Cervicitis means inflammation of the cervix, due to infection such as gonorrhea or chlamydia (sexually transmitted infections). These infections do not cause cancer and are fully treatable with correct antibiotics cervical cancer is caused by the hpv (human papilloma virus) which is also a sexually transmitted infection. In most patient it goes away on its own but in some it may cause cancer.
