How can you tell if you have aps vs. ms?

Specializes in Neurology

Usually: Aps involves many body parts incl. Blood vessels, skin and blood. There are blood test to confirm aps. Ms is on the other side only in the brain and does not affect other organs. Mri changes are at time similar in both cases but blood tests and a spinal tap can sort this out.

Presentations: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome may be associated with multiple miscarriages, blood clotting issues, such as venous or arterial thrombotic events, but also headaches, and livedo reticularis. MS has very little in common as it is a disease of brain, eyes, spinal cord, and might present with visual loss, numbness, weakness, imbalance, fatigue. Lab studies and MRI's can clearly distinguish stroke
