Different pain meds: Both are long-acting forms of pain meds. The main ingredient of MS-Contin is morphine, while that of oxycontin. While both are narcotic pain meds, the main ingredient is a different chemical. It is why someone may respond better to one than the other, while someone else responds in the reverse way.
