Your choice: The use of methylprdnisolone is to reduce the swelling from the irritation and inflammation created by the injury to the right heel. The benefit of taking it is to reduce the inflammation, to reduce the pain, and allow the healing to being. Why suffer the pain? Without it, it does slow down the rate of allowing the area to heal and calm down. Should you discontinue it, keep your dr informed.

No: It is always your option to take medication or not but you should discuss this with your doctor so he understands why your healing is slower than expected.

You need to be : Careful when taking steroids as usually you are weaned off from them. Sudden stops in the medication are not healthy, please inform your prescribing doctor of your intentions or concerns.

Go Figure.: Without knowing where the tiny bone fragment is, makes it difficult to determine whether or not the prescribed treatment is of any benefit. It sounds like some sort of inflammation is being treated. If the bone fragment has caused damage because of your normal foot function how is stretching the very tissue that is injured going to promote healing? Now take steroids to mask the problem. Go figure
