What is the result of ct of abdomen in intussusception?

Depends on stage: Intussusception may be intermitted, that is the bowel may go in and out. So ct is sensitive when taken during the pain. Ct might show, signs of inflammation, obstruction, the donut sign or 3rd kidney sign at the site of the intussusception.

Additional info: This is a medical and surgical emergency so go to er/doc immediately if suspecting of intussusception.

Diagnostic: Ct of abdomen can only diagnose the presence or absence of intussusception. It cannot treat the condition. A barium or air contrast enema can DX and treat condition and allows for decreased radiation.
