Till corrected: Pyloric stenosis results from thickening and hypertrophy of the pyloric muscle which can constrict the outlet of the stomach resulting in vomiting. Once the muscle is opened surgically the vomiting will cease in the post operative period. Be cautioned that vomting can recurr if infant is overfed.

Till after surgery: Once pyloric stenosis is surgically corrected the baby can resume feeding several hours after surgery. Vomiting should be cured unless infant is overfed.
