Rare, but...: I have never heard of true pyloric stenosis in a 3 year old, where the actual pyloric muscle gets to big for its own good and blocks the outlet from the stomach. However, ther are a number of conditions that can cause the area of the outlet of the stomach to swell and then block the flow of stomach contents into the small intestine, mimicking pyloric stenosis. Need to talk to doc or peds GI doc!

No: Pyloric stenosis is common in infants aged 3-6 weeks. Beyond those ages the cause of vomiting would be different and should be worked up. A more common cause would be reflux.
