Profoundly: Child abuse can have a variety of effects on children. Once safety is re-established and physical harm treated, emotional harm can be assessed. The ability of children to trust others and changes in what to expect in relationships are often the most profound psychological injuries. Post traumatic stress disorder and depression are also extremely common. Therapy can help all of this.
