Azithromycin for uti: I personnally do not use Azithromycin for a UTI unless I have no other choice because of drug allergies or if I am treating a specific sexually transmitted disease causing a urethritis in a woman/ man. The dose is either 500 mgs x 2 doses or a full gram (1, 000 mgs) one time dose.

Get evaluated. : Azithromycin is not a standard treatment for a UTI and not typically used as first line empiric therapy. It is typically used in lung infections, & sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea and chalmydia, and will not cover many urinary tract pathogens. The best approach is a get evaluated with a urine culture, especially if you have a complicated case requiring non-standard treatment.
