What tools to doctors use in deliveries?

It varies: The best deliveries require no instruments other than a clamp and scissors to cut the baby's cord. Difficult deliveries can be facilitated with instruments such as forceps or vacuum cups-- your physician should discuss these options with you if it is anticipated one may be needed. Instruments for suturing are sometimes needed if lacerations occur during delivery.
