A member asked:

Right bottom eye lid has been twitching for over 3 months now all day long. noticible to others, will stop for 2 days about every 9 days and comes back?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tic, tic, twitch: Twitching confined to the muscles immediately around the eyeballs is usually benign, caused by a variety of things such as stress, sleep deprivation, excess caffeine, or habit tics. If you have any other muscles involved besides those "periorbital" ones, then something else is wrong. Local nerve irritants or blood vessel compression of nerves near the brain stem are decidedly rarer.
