See doctor...: The most common cause of coughing blood, called hemoptysis, is bronchitis. However, this symptom always needs to be seen by a doctor because malignancy can also lead to hemoptysis. So, the person needs to see a doctor asap. If they smoke, they need to quit today to decrease airway inflammation. If symptoms are severe, they need to go to an er right away!
