Consult a surgeon: First you need to see a plastic surgeon. Try to find one who specializes in or has experience with bariatric patients because this is not the typical cosmetic case. The doctor will document the problem and need for surgery including photos. It helps if you have problems like infections in skin creases or trouble walking due to the excess skin.

No magic code : There is no catch phrase which will get you covered. Insurance coverage varies with the company. The coverage for post bariatric surgery is improving. Documentation of skin problems such as rashes or infected hair follicles, inability to exercise, difficulty wearing clothes, and the recommendation of a family doc will all help.

Talk to your doctor: Have your primary care physician document your condition and then ask to be referred to a plastic surgeon.
