A member asked:

I have had my implanon out for 14 months and still no period but every once in 4 months and my eggs are still not dropping, am i infertile?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The action of Implanon and any other hormonal birth control is to prevent ovulation. By preventing ovulation (no release of egg), pregnancy cannot happen. Likewise, because Implanon has Progesterone in it (the pregnancy hormone) many women do not have menstrual cycles, which is ok. Within 7 days of removing Implanon you regain your fertility. However, fertility is based on your age and genetics.
