What is an astigmatism and will i eventually need glasses if it is just mild?

Distortion: Astigmatism is an optical "warping" of the focus usually resulting from a slightly football-shaped cornea. If mild, it provides greater depth of field, if more blur. Glasses may reduce the subjective sensation of blur. Get a refraction from your eye doctor and try with and without lenses to see what you prefer.

Eye ovalness: Astigmatism is when an eye is somewhat oval instead of perfectly round. Correction is with a reverse oval in contacts or eyeglasses. If mild it may not affect the vision enough to require correction. You can judge the clarity of your vision compared to others to see if you are functioning well visually. Astigmatism commonly occurs with myopia and hyperopia and all can be corrected simulatneous.
