Pain in hands/nausea: Rheumatologic conditions can present as joint aching along with nausea. But many times there are other symptoms like fever, rash, and muscle aches. There are also infectious processes that can cause those symptoms. It'll take some teasing out of the time course of all the symptoms and a good physical exam by her doctor to see if they're really related or not. Best of luck.
