As soon as possible: Usually labor occurs spontaneously within 24 hours of your water breaking. If it has not occurred by then your doctor will induce your labor as the risk of infection becomes very high if the bag of water is broken for more than a day or two without labor. If you have group b strep you are started on antibiotics as soon as the water has broken.
