Perhaps: Ibs can cause bloating or uncomfortable distension, which can be felt beneath the rib cage, but most often the pain or cramps are in the lower left abdomen. Please see your physician to exclude other causes (conditions of the liver, pancreas, lungs, kidneys, etc). Most ibs discomfort is strongly related to passing a bowel movement (gets better afterwards).
