A member asked:

Been diagnosed with ibs is discomfort below both sides of rib cage a symptom of ibs. not painful just uncomfortable at times?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Perhaps: Ibs can cause bloating or uncomfortable distension, which can be felt beneath the rib cage, but most often the pain or cramps are in the lower left abdomen. Please see your physician to exclude other causes (conditions of the liver, pancreas, lungs, kidneys, etc). Most ibs discomfort is strongly related to passing a bowel movement (gets better afterwards).
