A member asked:

My derm can't tell if i have atypical scabies or atopical dermatitis.i get relief but not cure from oral ivermectin and oral immuran, please help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to tell: It's hard to tell without examination. If you have (or your family) asthma, hayfever history and ezema in your childhood, the eczema you have now might be atopic dermatitis. However, if you live in a dorm, share bed with some one, and they happen to have similar itching problem, you might have scabies. Itching from scabies may linger for months after "cure". Atopic dermatitis comes and goes.
