A few years: I am sorry to hear of your loss. Ovarian cancer often does not produce specific symptoms till it has already spread. She had the disease for a few years, it is difficult to say how many. Please see this site for more info. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/pmh0001891/.

Impossible to Know: I am sorry for your loss. We don't expect cancer to take our loved ones from us so quickly after a diagnosis, but cancer can grow to be very large or spread thru the body without causing many symptoms and then suddenly result in the failure of a critical organ. Aggressive tumors can grow like this over a few months, others may take years. Best guess is that the tumor started 6-12 months ago.

Really unknown: Recently there have been some articles addressing how long it takes for a cancer to become clinically evident. These looked at lung cancer models. But the answers are still somewhat elusive. Ovarian cancer can be insidious with minimal symptoms and full blown presentation like your mother's. Unfortunately there isn't a clear answer here, but she probably had it for at least several months.
