A member asked:

If my grandmother on my mother's side had a sister who died of ovarian cancer in her 70's, am i at higher risk, what do they mean by close relative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

BRCA gene: If there is a history in your genealogical lineage of breast, ovarian, and/or colon cancer, the BRCA gene may be in play increasing one's risk for either of the three maladies. There is gene testing available to make that determination. Females are more obviously affected because of the first two, but male relatives can pass the gene along to descendants.
