Most of the time: Consuming large amounts of alcohol while taking metformin can result in a serious condition called lactic acidosis. Small amounts are usually ok, however problems with liver or kidney can make this more sensitive. Since most of the alcohol evaporates while cooking it will usually be safe, however if you have other conditions too do check with your doctor.
