Ketones: If your diabetes is not well controlled you may be getting to a ketoacidosis state. Ketones can smell like and confuse older ways of testing for alcohol. New blood and urine tests for ethanol would or should not mistake this. I would approach who ever is providing you testing with a question about ketoacidosis. Or use this experience to get into much better diabetes control.
