SVT or DVT: Svt--superficial vein thrombosis is clot within superficial veins. Treatment involves local heat, NSAID medications like motrin, Aleve and tylenol (acetaminophen). Steroid injections around the acute thrombosis may help with pain. Svt veins with thrombosis will usually self resolve. Dvt--deep vein thrombosis is clot within the deep veins. This is a medical problem. Treatment based on urgent physician review.
