What is the treatment for concussion from football?

Depends on severity: Typically, if there was any loss of consciousness, no playing for at least a few weeks and evaluation by a neurosurgeon. If there was no loss of consciousness but confusion lasting longer than 15 minutes, there should be no football for at least 2 weeks. If there was no loss of consciousness and confusion lasting less than 15 minutes, a week off is prudent. See a neurosurgeon for treatment.

Protocols: Every school, coach, athletic department and medical staff has protocols available to them to follow called "return to sport" protocols. These should be followed with no exceptions. Most protocols have stages of no activity, light movement, moderate movement and lifting, heavy lifting and hard exertion, return to sport. Each stage has monitoring and symptom tracking built in.
