A member asked:

If you have a false positive on a stool guaiac, do you repeat the stool guaiac or proceed to colonoscopy?

Colonoscopy: If you have had a positive fecal occult blood test, the appropriate next step is colonoscopy to look for the source of possible blood loss (such as colorectal cancer, polyp or other disease). You don't know the stool test is a 'false positive' until you have done the colonoscopy and found it to be normal.

Colonoscopy: Get the colonoscopy. How would you even know it's a false positive if you haven't had a colonoscopy?
