A member asked:

Should it be given antibiotic to prevent infection after cervical polyps removal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: If the polyp is on the external surface of the cervix there is little risk of infection. Your doctor may ask you to avoid intercourse or putting anything into your vagina. If the cervix must be dilated, a physician my be concerned about infection and choose to use an antibiotic. But it isn't absolutely necessary either way.
