A member asked:

Is there an antibiotic to prevent common skin infections?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Except under...: ...Very specific circumstances, antibiotics are used to treat infections, not prevent them. The use of antibiotics when no antibiotic susceptible infection is present is probably responsible for the increase in drug resistant bacterial infections. The best prevention for common skin infections is good hygiene.
