Yes: Blood clots are more common in pregnancy and post-partum, especially if you need to be at bedrest, on a long plane flight, or are obese. Watch out for signs or tenderness, swelling, or redness that is worse in 1 leg than the other, and report changes to your doctor right away.

Can be: When one is pregnant or taking hormonal contraception they are in a "hypercoaguable state" meaning that they have a higher than normal risk of forming a blood clot. Other factors may also contribute to the formation of a clot such a genetics, weight, smoking and inactivity making the overall risk even higher.
