Not really: The atkins diet tends to concentrate on proteins and fats. This can cause a person to be ketotic and build up of protein with overwhelming of the kidneys. It is my understanding that the extra water you drink will help the kidneys to filter the blood stream and keep you from damaging your kidneys, but i don't think the physical water contributes to the weight loss. Ask a nutritionist for more inf.
