Why are old people more likely to develop cataracts and skin cancer?

Age: Older age increases cataract formation since it's a natural aging process, plus more cellular replication over time and environmental exacerbating factors such as uv sunlight can lead to acceleration of cell division, and mutations of a susceptible lesion that can turn into cancer.

Aging Process: As we age what was once new is no longer the same & this goes for the lens in our eyes & quality of our skin. The lens in our eye which once was completely clear starts to become cloudy leading to a cataract. This process can be accelerated by the environment - sun/radiation, and diabetes. The increase in non-melanoma skin cancer similarly occurs from the cumulative sun damage & aging of the skin.
