Can you tell me how the radiation in xrays cause cancer, cataracts, lukemia etc.?

Dna alteration: We are constantly exposed to cosmic rays and some natural radiation sources. X-rays add a little to that (sometimes a lot for unshielded machines like in a chiropractors office) and that increases the chance for DNA alteration which can lead to cancer and other metabolic changes.
