A member asked:

Why was the sv40 cancer virus included in the polio vaccine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not on purpose: The original killed polio vaccine (which i received) was in some lots contaminated with sv40 because of issues with inactivation kinetics of this virus which contaminated some of the tissue culture lines. It is not at all clear that there has been any adverse effects.
