How will my condition (hepatitis b) affect the the nose surgery(rhinoplasty) procedure?

It won't affect it: Hep b will not affect your procedure. As surgeons we take universal precautions with every patient (meaning we treat every patient as if they potentially have hep b) at baseline, so nothing would change with your surgery.

Check labwork: With regard to the surgical procedure, plastic surgeons routinely operate on healthy patients with hepatitis b/ c or hiv. However, since hepatitis b affects the liver and many anesthesia drugs are metabolized by the liver, i would meet with your primary care doctor and have your liver function tested before seeking elective surgery. I hope this information is helpful. Stephen weber, M.D.

No effect: There will be no effect on your condition. Make sure to get a medical clearance for anesthesia and surgery.
