Kg/m2: Bmi is a calculated value of your weight in kilograms (1kg=2.205 lbs) divided by you height in meters squared (1 meter=39.37 in). To square your height, multiply it by itself. I.E. 1.7 x 1.7. It's much easier to use one of the online bmi calculators where you just put in your height and weight and it does all the conversions and calculations for you. Bmi doesn't take age and gender into account.

BMI: Body mass index (bmi) uses a person's height and weight to estimate if they are maintaining a healthy weight. Accuracy and usefulness can vary depending on muscle mass, as a heavily muscled 200 lb man is obviously not the same thing as an obese 200lb man. Online calculator: Bmi is a calculation based on dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared: kg/m2. There are many online calculators that will do this for you by just putting in your height and weight that way you don't have to do the conversions and math.

Is BMI reliable?: Hi erikka! body mass index (bmi) is only a measure of height & weight. As a result, a very muscular person may have the same BMI as an obese, overfat person - with very different health risks. Bmi also does not give information about dangerous disease-causing visceral belly fat. I prefer bioelectrical impedance analysis - gives a full body composition -fat, muscle, bone, hydration status.

Mathematical: It is a specific formula to calculate the bmi, based on one's own height and weight. Bmi = weight (kg) divided by height (m) squared.
