Several: The most common cause of reversible blindness worldwide is cataract. The most common cause of permanent vision loss is glaucoma. Diabetic retinopathy is another leading cause of blindness. Corneal scars, especially cuased by diseases such as trachoma, are a major problem in the developing world.

Vision loss: Vision loss can be due to many things: most common is need for new glasses. If still not correctable vision: can be due to cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, blood vessel issues. Many other possibilities as welll: Brain lesions, medications, trauma, infection, cancer. Patient should be checked by eyeMD.

Vision loss: This is a huge list of diagnoses. Any disease that affects the cornea all the way through to the occipital lobes of the brain can cause vision loss. Most commonly, it include things such as prescription changes, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Hope that helps.
