Call : Your surgeon. It could be normal or a knee infection. Dvt is on the list too but generally wouldnt just cause the anterior knee to swell, though an exam would be very helpful.

Swelling: more likely related to knee surgery as swelling is localized due to the history of pulmonary embolism would be wise to get evaluated venous doppler sonogram
