Many: It depends on what the spinal tap is being done for. If it's to see if there is meningitis, than cultures are done as well as analyzing the cells and even rapid bacterial testing kind of like strep testing. If it's for multiple sclerosis or other neurological conditons, than completely different studies are done. If the person is HIV (+) than even different studies are done.
