A member asked:

What does it mean when no csf or very little csf comes out with a vp shunt tap i had one today and a tiny bit of fluid come out and sat up the top of the butterfly needle tubing & it wouldnt move there wasnt a flow of it is this a problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

VP shunt: When there's no flow or very poor flow on a tap of a VP shunt, assuming it was done properly, until proven otherwise it means a blockage is present. This is a serious problem which can cause substantial brain injury. Your neurosurgeon is best qualified to advise you.
