No , not the same: A coin lesion is just a description of a lesion that is round like a coin. It will not tell you about what kind of lesion is that- cancer or not cancer. Carcinoid is a distict entity- is a cancer. It is generally applied to neuroendocrine tumors (nets) that is originating in the digestive tract, lungs, or sometimes in other rare primary sites such as kidneys or ovaries.
